Cultural Awareness
Circles (2 Hours)
Cultural Awareness Circles are a safe space and time to focus on
cultural 'issues' and 'isms' that exist in our lives and
communities. We will be drawing experience, strength and hope from
many programs, books and ideas from around the country for dealing
with a variety of challenges facing communities. The ultimate goal
is to promote learning, healing and growth between people,
communities and cultures.
Introduction to Community Building (2 Hours)
Introduction to Community is an intro to the community building
process based on M. Scott Peck's work on community making, A
Different Drum. This community building effort is a collaboration
between Stephan McLaughlin of HEAL and Jean Handley of Turning Point
Partners.
Mindful Communication Workshop (8 Hours)
Mindful Communication training is a collaboration between HEAL
and Turning Point Partners develops a consciousness and offers
practical skills that promote clear communication, deep
understanding, and vital compassion with oneself and between people.
Healthy Relationship Circle (2 Hours)
This interactive group serves as an introduction to identifying the
essential elements of healthy, harmonious relationships in the home,
school, church or community. Participants are guided in discovering
the strengths and challenges of their relationships and in becoming
aware of opportunities for positive changes.
Healthy Relationship Workshop (4 Hours)
A dynamic follow-up to the self-directed healthy relationship
circle. An experiential workshop using powerful teachings and
hands-on exercises of aikido as the art of peace building and
harmonious relationships. Participants increase awareness of self,
learn the value of staying balanced and centered, and identify
valuable tools that maintain connection and communication with
others.
Peace Circle (2 Hours)
If you are interested in becoming a peace builder in your community
and finding an alternative for the prevailing culture of violence,
join our interactive group discussions using The Peace Book written
by Louise Diamond as a guide to identify practical action steps. Let
the Journey of Healing begin!
