Founder

Stephan McLaughlin, Jr., Founder and Board Chair
Ten years ago while struggling with his own life challenges and relationships, Stephan began a lifelong process of personal transformation. His own life problems were turned from disaster to triumph as he became aware of his fear centered living and was able to begin to live more and more from a center of Love and Compassion.

Committed to a vision of developing a Culture of Peace as called for in the Hague Agenda for Peace and Justice, Stephan and HEAL are working to assemble a set of basic human values and to create a new model of human relationship. This new Level of Understanding could serve as a common ground for transforming many of our existing barriers to healthy relationships into opportunities for promoting the art of living in health, happiness and harmony with the other members of our Human Family.

Staff

Sharaze Colley, Office Manager (Memphis, TN)
Sharaze joined the HEAL office circle in November 2004, after connecting on a spiritual level with Stephan, her Chief Instructor in Aikido class. Her ten years of training in martial arts, her intense life experiences, and her youthful wisdom have prepared her to collaborate at HEAL in an innovative and individualized manner. Following an education in the fields of literature and religion, as well as acquiring an extensive technical knowledge of computers and websites, Sharaze pursued traditional employment before accepting the invitation to lend support to the programs and workshops of the organization.

As a young girl, Sharaze experienced a "knowing" of how to create a happy, healthy lifepath that would celebrate her creative inner spirit. By her example, she inspires her family and friends to honor their uniqueness by living a passionate, authentic life, and her enthusiasm for learning is shared weekly in the Sunday School class for K-3rd graders that she teaches at her church. Sharaze loves cats, enjoys reading, and draws compassion and strength from her extraordinary relationship with her husband Mike.

Janette Hester, Director (Denver, CO)
Janette joined HEAL in September 2000 with the intention to connect more deeply with her spiritual nature, make a meaningful contribution to the community, simplify her life, and work for positive changes that can make a difference. Her goal was to use her business and language skills (Spanish, German, Portuguese, and Italian) to create healthy relationships with others by providing service and information through the HEAL programs and workshops.

After earning a B.A. in English, Spanish Literature, and Psychology from the University of Mississippi, Janette spent over 20 years in education (as a teacher and language translator) and business (corporate marketing and advertising). She has lived and traveled in South America, Europe, Thailand, the Caribbean, and New Zealand and, as a result, has been infused with more consciousness, energy, and love through the personal relationships made in these multi-cultural locations.

Passionate about the treatment of animals, she uses her artistic talent to create commissioned charcoal and pastel portraits of beloved pets by capturing their energetic essence, personality, and loving connection with their human caregivers. A percentage of the profits from each sale is donated to animal humane societies and shelters. Janette is the mother of a beautiful, spritually-awakened daughter and the grandmother of two evolving young souls.

Raney is a wife, mother of four, and grandmother of four. She has worked in the public accounting field for over 20 years. As well as enjoying her family, she enjoys the beach, singing and learning. Thanks to the mentoring efforts of Stephan McLaughlin, Raney has owned her own bookkeeping business for over 10 years.
